Sean "Diddy" Combs reportedly won't be invited to one of the most anticipated event in the fashion world.
According to a report Radar Online published on Tuesday, April 2, the embattled music mogul has been removed from the guest for this year's Met Gala. The annual event is set to go down in May at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A source claims that the industry has "distanced itself" away from Diddy while he combats accusations of sex trafficking and other offenses that are listed in multiple lawsuits. Diddy has denied all of the allegations, but that hasn't stopped events and brands from reconsidering their affiliation with him.
"Now he finds himself grappling not only with the preservation of his reputation, but also with the loss of his standing within an industry that has unequivocally distanced itself from him," the source said.
For the unfamiliar, Diddy attended the Met Gala with Yung Miami by his side. It was the first time he designed a Sean John outfit in 10 years. According to a press release, the camellia-heavy ensemble was described as a "fashion-forward black motorcycle tuxedo." It contained 600 Swarovski crystals and black pearls, which was inspired by the late Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld's legacy was the theme of the event last year.
The Met Gala isn't the only event that has reconsidered its invitation to Diddy. Back in December, the Recording Academy reportedly debated whether or not to host Diddy at the 66th Grammy Awards even though he was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album thanks to The Love Album: Off The Grid. Diddy had already settled a lawsuit his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed against him well before the awards show, but he ultimately decided not to go.
