Georgia Braces For Hurricane Isaias

Hurricane Isaias churns in the Caribbean and as a precautionary measure, Mayor Shirley Sessions has ordered beaches closed to swimmers on the island on Sunday and Monday, when the hurricane is expected to skirt the Florida and Georgia coasts.

Sessions said the storm could create dangerous surf, but there is no evacuation orders planned as of yet.

As of 11 a.m. Friday, the storm as maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and is moving toward the northwest. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the east coast of Florida, from Ocean Reef to Sebastian Inlet and Lake Okeechobee. Some strengthening is possible, and Isaias is expected to remain a hurricane for the next few days.
