How Joe Biden's "You Ain't Black" Comment Unfolded

Today Joe Biden will be on CNN at 5pm ET where Charlamagne Tha God's interview will once again be front and center so I want to get you ahead of the game and break down what went down when the two sat down for a chat last week which prompted the hashtag #YouAintBlack to trend all Memorial Day Weekend.

While closing down the interview Charlamagne told Biden that he needs to come visit The Breakfast Club live in the studio in NYC sine "we have more questions" for him, that's when Biden immediately snapped back by saying that if "you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black." To which Charla quickly responded that it "has nothing to do with Trump" and that he simply wants something for his community. What does Biden do? He tells Charlamagne "take a look a look at my record man" and proceeds to break down his record with the African American community and how he stays receiving the NAACP's continued endorsement.

Later in the day, Biden issued a statement walking back the comments on a call with the U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce saying that the "should not have been so cavalier" during the interview.

In the 18-minuted interview Charlamagne touched on how Biden's voting record has affected African Americans while Biden defended his popularity within the community from which he says he gets "overwhelming support" on his campaigns significantly in early primary states. Biden also said he is considering "multiple black women" in the search for his running mate, but did not acknowledge anyone who is being considered.
