Miami Police Holding A Virtual Meeting Tonight

Miami police isn't letting the coronavirus stop them from getting the public's input on the use of a controversial program.

Before Miami police unleashes another tool in its arsenal to capture crooks, it's looking for the public's input... holding a virtual community meeting tonight at 6:00 on the department's Facebook page.

Opponents claim facial recognition is intrusive and a government overreach.

Police Chief Jorge Colina understands how some people feel it's overreach but he doesn't see it as anything different than showing surveillance video asking the public to identify a suspect and promises every use will be logged to make sure the program isn't misused.
