South Motors Group Helps Donates Vehicle To Former Foster Child Turned Student
Miami-based South Motors Group partnered with GEICO and Enterprise Rent-A-Car to help repair and refit a vehicle. The vehicle will be donated to Javon Johnson.
South Motors Group came together with GEICO and Enterprise Rent-A-Car this month to show just how strong their ties are to the community. Together, they worked to donate and refit a vehicle for a deserving individual in the Miami community and will present the vehicle to this deserving individual on June 7th at the South Motors Volkswagen store.
The vehicle, a 2013 Volkswagen CC, was purchased and donated by GEICO in collaboration with the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program. Enterprise Rent-A-Car donated the license and registration fees and South Motors Group utilized their collision center and expert mechanics at South Motors BMW to repair and refit this vehicle. Additionally, South Motors Honda outfitted it with new tires.
“We are excited to be able to partner with these great organizations,” said Luis Rodriguez, Director of South Motors Collision Center. “Connecting with our community is one of our favorite things to do and we are happy to be able to help out.”
Javon Johnson will be receiving the vehicle. Johnson had been in foster care for most of his life and is currently receiving aid from Genesis Hopeful Haven to help him further his education at Miami Dade College. He has been doing this all while working full time at the University of Miami Art Summer Camp. Providing Johnson with a vehicle will allow him to continue to do both, as he is currently reliant upon a two-hour public transportation ride to reach his job.
Officials from South Motors, GEICO and Enterprise Rent-A-Car will all be present at South Motors Volkswagen on June 7th at 1 p.m. to give Johnson the newly refitted vehicle.
“A young man with a rough start in life but the will to make the right choices to ensure a bright future is exactly the type of person we want to give back to,” added Pat Collins, Service Director of South Motors BMW.
