Nicki Minaj is catching heat after publicly thanking former President Donald Trump for speaking out about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
Trump recently posted on Truth Social, calling out the mass-killings of Christians in Nigeria and warning of U.S. action if the violence continues.
In a response post, Minaj wrote she felt “a deep sense of gratitude” for his statement, noting that “we live in a country where we can freely worship God” and thanked “the President and his team for taking this seriously.”
Her post triggered a strong reaction: while some praised her stand, many of her fans were upset, feeling she overstepped her role as an entertainer or implicitly aligned with Trump’s politics.
Fans often expect artists to “stick to the music.” When a musician makes a bold political-religious statement, it can divide the audience and shift the narrative from art to activism (or controversy).
