YNW Melly Denied Bond for Third Time

YNW Melly has once again been denied bond as he awaits retrial on double murder charges. This is the third time a judge has refused to grant his release. The 24-year-old, born Jamell Demons, remains in the custody of the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), facing serious allegations in connection to the 2018 killings of his two close friends and fellow YNW members, Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams.

Melly's legal team continues to argue that their client is being mistreated while in custody. Mentioning concerns over his living conditions and access to basic needs. According to his attorneys, the rapper has allegedly faced harsh treatment from BSO officials; including limited communication privileges and extended periods in solitary confinement.

Despite these claims, the court has not found sufficient grounds to justify his release on bond. Melly’s retrial was declared necessary after a mistrial in July 2023, when jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

The case has drawn national attention not only because of Melly’s rising fame in the hip-hop scene but also due to the complexity of the evidence, which includes digital forensic data and questions surrounding ballistics; on top of the claims Melly has not spoken to family members, like his mother in years due to BSO blocking access.

As it stands, new trial date has been confirmed for September 10 2025.
