Plies Drops Lawsuit Against Megan Thee STallion, GloRilla and Souja Boy

In a surprising turn of events, Plies has officially dropped his lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, and Soulja Boy over the uncleared use of his 2007 track "Me & My Goons" in their hit song "Wanna Be." The legal battle, which initially stirred controversy, was based on claims that the artists sampled Plies' work without obtaining proper clearance.

However, while Plies has moved to dismiss the case, he’s made it clear that the door isn’t closed. By opting to dismiss the lawsuit without prejudice, Plies leaves himself the legal option to refile should he choose to revisit the matter in the future. This strategic maneuver gives him the flexibility to reassess his position if new developments or negotiations arise.

The legal surroundings of music samples has long been a contentious issue in the industry, with both large and independent artists frequently navigating the complex process of clearing samples. For now, it appears that the legal wrangling between Plies and the trio of rappers is on pause—but with the potential to reignite at any time.
