Wendy Williams Addresses Reports She Was “Kidnapped” By Her Niece

Wendy Williams dined at an Italian restaurant earlier this week. Her niece, Alex Finnie, who came from Miami, joined her. The outing was a break from her New York assisted living stay. But the fun was short-lived. TMZ reported that the facility filed a police report against Finnie yesterday. They claimed she broke the law by taking Williams out without permission. Williams' guardian's legal team said she can come and go freely, in a letter to the outlet. The reason for the concern about their outing is unclear. After dinner, the pair returned to the facility. TMZ caught up with them there. Williams called the allegations against Finnie "unbelievable." She added, "Clearly they are lying to me." Williams believes they lie when they say she can go out. "We are going out to celebrate life," she stated. "And this is what has been done to us." This incident follows months of worries about Williams' guardianship. She is reportedly suffering from dementia and aphasia. Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, claims this has left her "permanently incapacitated."

Williams denies this, saying she doesn't need constant supervision. "I am not cognitively impaired," she said on The Breakfast Club in January. "But I feel like I am in prison." She added that the other people in the facility are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. "There's something wrong with these people here on this floor," she concluded.
