Tory Lanez Claims He Influenced Current Generation Of Streamers

Tory Lanez has been out of the spotlight for so long that it’s hard to remember when he was just a lesser-known artist from Toronto. There was a time when his music was more talked about than his personal life. A key moment for him came during the pandemic when he launched Quarantine Radio. This show not only entertained fans during lockdown but also significantly increased his popularity. Now, Lanez is seeking recognition for the influence Quarantine Radio had on today's streaming culture. Although he is currently incarcerated, he still uses social media to connect with fans. Recently, he shared a photo from Quarantine Radio with a caption that read: "POV: It's 2020, You stuck inside and just opened Instagram." This post served as a reminder of the show's importance, and Lanez emphasized that his idea set the stage for streamers like Adin Ross and Kai Cenat. He stated, "I crawled, so the streaming community could walk," and added the hashtag #QuarantineRadio.

Lanez made a significant mark on hip hop streaming. Quarantine Radio was such a sensation that when it was banned from Instagram, the CEO, Adam Moressi, had to explain the decision. He said he was a big fan of the platform but had to shut it down due to a community guidelines violation. Lanez is familiar with restrictions; he also had to end his Prison Tapes series after his recording gear was taken during a raid in September.

He expressed his frustration in an Instagram Live rant, claiming the guards took his equipment because it was too popular among inmates. "I was shut down because the higher-ups found out about the Prison Tapes and how they were helping inmates," he said. Since then, he has not been able to continue that series but has featured on the DDG song "Handling Business," where he recorded his verse using an iPhone.
