Update to Superstar Pride's recent legal issues. Reported here last week, Cadarrius Pride, which is the Mississippi rapper's real name. He was charged with first-degree murder after he shot a man last week.
Pride's bond has been denied and he is being detained at the Panola County Detention Center.
The victim’s grandmother, Mary Ann Strong, spoke on her late grandson following the shooting... “He was a real soft-hearted person, did whatever he could to help anybody,” she shared. She was present during the shooting. She described the incident claiming that Superstar Pride even allegedly threaten to shoot her at one point. ” she explained, “he shot about three times after he fell and he walked over to me and he pointed the gun at me and asked if I was going to tell it.” She explained Pride shot Marcus 3 times.
Reported by local Action News 5, the Panola County Sheriff's Office responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. on July 19. They discovered Marcus Wheatley lifeless, who appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds.
While investigating the incident, authorities linked the TikTok Painting Pictures rapper to the incident and identified him as the main suspect.
It is believed that Pride shot Wheatley because he refused to participate in a music video. Pride was later turned himself in in Polk Mississippi.
Pride's father spoke to the news and simply said, he "can't explain it."
