Rainy season began for Floridians on May 15 and ends Sunday, October 15. Florida is one of the wettest states in the nation. This is the only time of year the "Sunshine State" is gloomier than usual. June, July, August, and September typically produce the majority of the rainfall for the year in Florida.
The combination of warm air temperatures, moisture and sea breezes are the main ingredients that align for showers and thunderstorms to kick off during the afternoons.

The wettest parts of the state are the panhandle and the southeastern coast. Most of the rain that falls in Florida is convective rainfall, meaning it forms from water that has evaporated from the Earth's surface due to the heat of the sun.
