Young Thug has been awaiting trial since May 2022 in RICO case. The jury selection begin this year in January and is still ongoing now. The Atlanta rapper has been denied bond three times last year.
Young Thug, whos real name is Jeffrey Williams pleaded not guilty on all eight counts. On Wednesday his lawyer Brian Steele filed the fourth bond motion on Thug's behalf On Wednesday Steele stated his client does not pose a risk and should be released while awaiting trial.
"Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he's not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that's what bond is about," Steel told ABC.
Steele also shared with the court that his client is sleep deprived from the lengthy trial process. Waking up at 4am or 5am in the mornings to return to the corrections facility late. Steeles claims this henders Young Thug from being able to prepare for trial effectively. A video of Young Thug went viral when fans noticed Thug putting his head down in court. Many thinking it was a sign showing Thug was feeling defeated but he could have been exhausted and overwhelmed from court proceedings.
Judge Ural Glanville has not been leniate with handling Young Thug, nor lawyers from both sides. Young Thug faces eight RICO charges with the city of Atlanta dating back to at least 2015.
