Universal Studios Orlando’s mask policy no longer requires face masks for fully vaccinated guests.
The park's new guidelines are based on recommendations from the CDC, which allows vaccinated guests to go mask-free indoors and outdoors.
"While we do not require proof of vaccination, we do expect those who are not fully vaccinated to wear face coverings while indoors," Universal said.
The park will continue to focus on maintaining high cleanliness and sanitization standards.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek hinted that there could be a change to the mandatory mask requirement at Disney parks.
“Particularly, if anybody’s been in Florida in the middle of summer with a mask on. That could be quite daunting,” Chapek said. “So we think that’s going to make for an even more pleasant experience.”
The parks had already started raising the number of people allowed in Florida, based on relaxed restrictions from Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“So I think you’re going to see an immediate increase in the number of folks that we're able to admit into our parks through our reservation systems that we recently implemented,” Chapek said.
The CDC guidance still calls for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters, but it will clear the way for reopening workplaces, schools and other venues.
Universal Orlando Resort has stopped doing temperature checks on guests and has reduced social distancing to three feet.
SeaWorld also removed temperature checks and the use of face masks and limited capacity remains in place.
Walt Disney World Resort is also phasing out its temperature checks and screenings for employees will end. Disney came to the decision following the advice of the CDC.
