Sports Betting In Florida May Be Steps Away

Florida’s legislative session has an issue thaat has moved to the forefront to bring legalized sports betting to Florida.

Closed-door talks have been ongoing, but getting to the finish line will involve jumping numerous political and legal hurdles.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Seminole Tribe of Florida have reached a consensus on key issues, and the Legislature could take up the gambling issue as early as next week.

Florida’s 60-day legislative session ends on April 30, and a deal would be a political feather in the governor’s cap as he heads into reelection next year.

The deal is said to allow sports betting at the state’s pari-mutuel facilities, which include horse racing tracks and jai-alai arenas, and professional sporting venues with bets running through the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
