A Japanese billionaire is planning to fly 8 people to the moon in 2023.
Yusaku Maezawa, is the first person to book a seat on SpaceX's planned mission to the moon, and he said he was going to invite six to eight artists to join him on the flight.
"I wanted to reach out to a wider, more diverse audience," he said. "If you see yourself as an artist, then you are an artist."
Anybody who is interested must pre-register at dearmoon.earth and applicants will then be sent information about the selection process.
Those selected for the mission will begin to prepare and train this summer, and all applicants must be willing to push the envelope in terms of creativity and be willing to encourage others on the mission to do the same.
Maezawa will pay for the entire cost of the journey.
"I will pay for the entire journey. I have bought all the seats, so it will be a private ride," he said.
