Miami Mayor Suarez Wants Restrictions On Covid Vaccinations

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez wants a hold on reserved doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for only those who live inside the city of Miami's limits.

A policy he’s calling “Miami First.” has been pitched with the idea of city commission.

Federal regulations state that there can’t be residency requirements for the vaccine, however Mayor Suarez asked the city manager and attorney to “take all legal steps necessary” to prevent non-residents from receiving vaccines before the city’s elderly and vulnerable populations.

Plans are now underway to open a vaccination site at Marlins Park in Miami.
