Coronavirus Is At The Heart Of Miami-Dade Voilence

The coronavirus is being blamed for the rise in violent crime in Miami-Dade County.

There was a nationwide increase in violent crime during 2020 that is already spilling into 2021. The trend in most big U.S. cities, was a decrease in non-violent offenses and an increase in violent offenses.

In Miami-Dade, homicides increased more than 30% in addition to the cocaine market and gang activity.

The pandemic changed law enforcement tactics and the need to limit contact affected community policing.

Reduction of violence, relies on community leaders figuring out what are police-related solutions and what are the non-police-related solutions.
