The CDC Puts Out A Warning On Bad Meat

A Listeria outbreak has infected 10 people across three states from deli meats.

The CDC issued a warning that ten people from Florida, Massachusetts and New York to the hospital and led to the death of one person in Florida.

Deli meats like Italian-style meats are at the heart of the outbreak, and the average age of those infected was 81 and most were female. Many are unlikely to get seriously ill from Listeria, but people 65 and older, with weakened immune systems and pregnant women are at a higher risk.

Listeria is dangerous for pregnant women and can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or life threatening infection of the newborn.

Previous Listeria outbreaks have been linked to hard boiled eggs, mushrooms and soft cheeses.
