New COVID-19 vaccination site opens in Doral.
Eligibility age requirement will drop to 40 and older and anyone 18 or older will be eligible to get the shot on April 5.
“Given the increase in vaccine, given the fact we made a good dent in the 50+ population, as well,” Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez said. “The younger age groups probably won’t go out and get vaccines as quickly as the older groups.”
The state received about 63,000 additional doses of the Pfizer vaccine last week and believes they will soon be receiving 25,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
On Friday, there will be 500 vaccines available for people at Doral Legacy Park.
The FDA has approved the Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.
The FDA reports the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine had a 66.9% efficiency against moderate to severe/critical COVID-19 at least 14 days after vaccination and a 66/1% efficiency 28 days after vaccination.
The FDA showed it was "consistent with the recommendations set forth in FDA's guidance Emergency Use Authorization for Vaccines to prevent COVID-19.
The Vaccines and Biological Products Advisory Committee, is scheduled to meet to look over the documents and decide whether the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be recommended for authorization.
