Fashion Nova is inciting mixed reactions when it comes to its marketing.
The fast-fashion retailer’s latest strategy was to suggest that customers should spend their stimulus checks on the shop’s ongoing sale.
Millions have received stimulus checks as part of the package passed by Congress.
Fashion Nova, inspired by the news, went about it in a rather insensitive way since the majority of people need their stimulus checks to pay rent, buy food and spend it on other necessities.
People were understandably furious with the promotion, others seemed impressed with the brand’s ruthlessness.
This is not the brand’s first scandal. In 2019, reports that the company had horrible working conditions and employees in rat-infested factories were paid based on how fast they could sew came to light. Some workers received as little $4.66 an hour.
