First “Candyman” Trailer Drops With A Destiny’s Child Twist

Candyman. Candyman. Candyman.

If you were a kid in the 90s or early 2000s, then you know the urban legend of ‘The Candyman’. In fact, if you were on the brave side, you and your friends probably tried to summon him.

Now, after months of anticipation the trailer for “Get Out” and “Us” director/producer Jordan Peele’s remake of the classic 1992 horror film “Candyman” has finally been released and fans are loving it, especially the creepy, stripped down version of Destiny’s Child’s 1999 hit “Say My Name used in the clip.

The remake will reportedly pay a lot of homage to the ‘92 version, as original “Candyman” himself, Tony Todd, will be reprising his famous role. In addition, the film will also take place in Chicago however, unlike the original which took place in the Chi’s Cabrini-Green housing projects, the film is set in gentrified North Side Chicago.

If you’re unfamiliar with the film, the plot centers on the appearance of the deadly title character, who appears to wreak bloody havoc every time someone dares to utter his name five times in front of the mirror.

Are you already scared?

“The Candyman” hits theaters June 12th.
